Northwest Announces Completion of Major Building Renovation as Part of Environmental Improvement Initiative
(Chicago, Illinois -November 19, 2010) Northwest Mailing Service announced the completion of a major building renovation undertaken as part of a broad environmental improvement initiative. The renovation entailed retrofitting lighting fixtures in the 140,000 square foot production area where all inserting, imaging and affixing work is performed. The Company serves a diverse customer base from a broad range of markets including pharmaceutical, insurance, communication, travel & entertainment, and financial services. Together with its sister company Metrics Marketing Group, Northwest Mailing has become a cornerstone for providing services to the advertising and marketing community. "We pride ourselves on continuous improvement in all areas of our organization and we are particularly impressed that the idea came from our in-house maintenance group," commented Tom Ragen, CEO Northwest Mailing Service. "This commitment to the environment is only one of the ways that we have reduced our carbon footprint this year. Additionally, through an enhanced recycling program we have decreased our waste stream on the production floor by almost a third."
The lighting initiative has the environmental benefit of eliminating over 9 million pounds of carbon dioxide, 17,000 pounds of nitrogen oxide and 35,000 pounds of sulfur dioxide. This is equivalent to saving roughly 4.5 million pounds of coal over a fifteen year period.
