The DMA has invited two representatives from Northwest to participate on the DMA's Illinois Political Action Committee. Tom Orgler, our V.P. of Operations, and Marge Helms, Director of National Accounts, joined representatives from other companies on this committee which traveled to Washington D.C. to meet with Congressmen on July 15th. Other committee members included Ron Jacobs, President of Jacobs & Clevenger, Murray Johnston, Director of Government Affairs for Experian, Cyndi Greenglass, President of Agency Services for Diamond Marketing, Katy Neas, Easter Seals, and several staff members from the DMA.
The committee met with Congressmen John Shimkus, Peter Roskam, Bill Foster and Danny Davis in addition to Senator Dick Durbin to lobby on behalf of the direct marketing industry. They discussed with these Representatives and Senator issues such as Postal Reform Act and the importance of passing H.R. 22, tax legislation with regards to advertising expenses on Pharmaceutical advertisements, legislation to cap deductions of charitable donations to a tax rate of 28% and general trends within the direct marketing world.
Northwest places a high priority on championing key causes on behalf of our business partners and on being active with our industry associations and supports the DMA, the CADM, the PII and the local and national MFSA organizations.
