Jack Joss founded Northwest Mailing Service in Chicago in the early 1950's. Today, Northwest Mailing Service provides a wide range of Direct Mail Production Services in the Direct Marketing Industry. Services are designed to accommodate all production needs within a single facility located minutes Northwest of the Chicago Loop. "Beyond Mail" indicates that Northwest Mailing Service does much more than your typical mailing house.

Chicago has always been the home for marketing innovation. Cracker Jack (popcorn confection) was one of the first ever large marketing campaigns, mass-produced, mass-marketed and sold at the first Chicago World's Fair in 1893. In 1902, Outlook Envelope invented the first window envelope. In 1919, the United States Post Office invented airmail with its first transcontinental route from Chicago to Cleveland. By the 1950's, the USPS was in demand for a centralized mail production tool. The Multi-position Letter Sorting Machine (MPLSM), with 1,000 pockets, was first automation machine used in the Midwest and became the backbone for nation-wide mail distribution by 1959.

Much like the USPS, many Chicago based corporations started to experiment with innovation to provide more centralized mail distribution. Jack Joss answered this demand with Northwest Mailing Service. With a strong business sense, adaptability to meet the market demands, and mechanical innovation, Jack made a mark for himself as a leader in mail automation. Northwest Mailing proceeded to provide this service to corporations large and small, from big names like Kraft and Zenith to the family owned printer from around the corner. Jack died in 1999 leaving Northwest Mailing service to his sons, Brian, David, and Michael.

Northwest Mailing has doubled in size in the last 5 years. The sons stay loyal to their father's dreams by continuing to drive innovations.
